Overview

Danger Zone is a front-row, unfiltered look at the global war tourism industry. Weaving in different perspectives and narratives, there are no easy answers presented when two worlds collide: between the wealthy, privileged and the safe and the helpless caught in conflicts they have no control over or escape from.

Review

Would you be taking an opportunity if there is a tour to a war zone? Here are some people spending holidays in the battlefields of Iraq, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, and Mogadishu in Somalia. Of course, war tourism is not very well known. Even the director faced such an advertisement for the first time while filming a documentary in Ukraine, in 2015. Certainly, these companies operate secretly, like Rick Sweeney’s business. According to Rick, many dream of more stimulating tours to danger zones for even thousands of dollars. While the film shares the eyes of travelers to Kabul and Mogadishu, they also listen to why they chose to go on this dangerous tour. Various reasons may exist, from the desire to be a witness of historical moments to an escape from daily life, yet the bitter fact that even war may become a product to be sold lingers through.
