Review

Today, it is no exaggeration to say that China knows more about their people than themselves. Surveillance takes various ways to control people’s lives from high technologies such as biometric recognition, big data analysis, CCTVs, and SNS censorship and even analog methods like employing the elderly population without jobs to watch over. This film shows the side effects of uncontrolled power using the latest technology toward journalists, human rights lawyers who criticize the government, and even toward their families. They are being censored and controlled, even imprisoned and tortured, and suffering from other problems and trauma even after being released. Moreover, this reality accelerated through the COVID-19 pandemic, and now it is not just China's problem, but even for the Western developed countries. If this film shows our present reality, what would our future become? (CHUN Jinsu)
