Overview

In the middle of a performance of the play Le Cocu, a very bad boulevard, Yannick gets up and interrupts the show to take the evening back in hand.

Review

In the new film by a French filmmaker, Quentin Dupieux, known for his esotericism and prolificity, Yannick asks why one should pay for the play if it is hard to understand, is boring, when one's life is hard and complicated enough to handle. But Yannick is not venting about the play he cannot relate to. Instead, the film is to expose a voice from a society where personalization dominates, causing direct contact among people to disappear. Everyone is isolated but connected via the internet, where one can find everything. The nonsensical world is presented as a play that nobody can relate to. A biting and uneasy sense of humor dominates the film. Still, the filmmaker gives Yannick brief moments of feeling connected to someone else, as if he is accepted and loved. (Sung MOON)
