Overview
In a town in rural Southern Spain, Antonia, a teenage mother, disappears in the middle of the night, leaving her baby behind. Fifty years later and many kilometers up North, Carmen, looks for people to share their experiences when arriving in a new city. In her search, Carmen will meet Antonia, an impulsive woman who will intrude into her loneliness.

Review
The film's first part shows us the past, set in the harsh reality of a rural community where women come together and work. The second part shows a world that has already changed—we see the cities of the present. In the second part, we see lonely women as well. Isolated and alone, they go back and forth between work and home. At the center of the two parts lies a story of a mom and a daughter. Filmmaker Laura Ferrés' The Permanent Picture shows a novel way to recount more than a familiar theme, a family story, by going beyond the conventional grammar of filmmaking. Some may call it a story that a mom and a daughter are reunited. Such a typical story may reveal lively emotions when told creatively. It proves that a movie with the most familiar elements can still speak to numerous things. (Sung MOON)
